I recently bought a Briel Lido in a thrift store. The first time I used it, I had the pleasure to mold in my mocha, and could not finish it. So I ran a bottle of white vinegar directly through the group head and steam, and, thinking that I have to remove the lime. I rinse with clean water, and made a sudden shot, then another shot, and my hot chocolate with steamed milk. The musty taste is still there! What could I do?
Espresso machine has musty taste?

Change your chocolate, it may be old ,or try to flush it out a few times put alittle salt in with the vinegar, and run it through a few times .Hope this helps Idon’t know where your from .but I’m in wisconsin, and it’s cold!! and that sounds good!!
try leaving the cap off the water reservoir….. some of the steam can back up in there and mold between uses. Run a couple tanks of water through it, then let it sit to dry with the cap off the tank.
Just a thought–you might try some baking soda water. Soda is suppose to absorb odors . Don’t know about taste. Good luck.
