Espresso machine has musty taste?

by brielespressomachine.net on April 1, 2010

I recently bought a Briel Lido in a thrift store. The first time I used it, I had the pleasure to mold in my mocha, and could not finish it. So I ran a bottle of white vinegar directly through the group head and steam, and, thinking that I have to remove the lime. I rinse with clean water, and made a sudden shot, then another shot, and my hot chocolate with steamed milk. The musty taste is still there! What could I do?

try leaving the cap off the water reservoir….. some of the steam can back up in there and mold between uses. Run a couple tanks of water through it, then let it sit to dry with the cap off the tank.

Just a thought–you might try some baking soda water. Soda is suppose to absorb odors . Don’t know about taste. Good luck.
